The Iowa Central Computer Networking Technology Program competed in the state SkillsUSA competition held May 2, 2014 at the DMACC campus in Ankeny. The program was represented by nine students that competed in a total of four different competitions. The areas that the students participated in were Computer Maintenance Technology, Internetworking, Technical Computer Applications, and Telecommunications Cabling.
The results are as follows:
Computer Maintenance Technology – Nathan Griswold (3rd), Mark Torres, Chase Huber
Internetworking – Bryan Beckley (1st), David Besch (2nd)
Technical Computer Applications – Tanner Illg (1st), Jacob Nelson (2nd)
Telecommunications Cabling – Brandon Kearney (1st), Darrell Kearney (2nd)
All of the students competed extremely well and were an excellent representation of the program and Iowa Central. The 1st Place finishers earned a trip to nationals in Kansas City, MO June 24-27, 2014 to compete against all the other winners from around the United States in the largest skills competition in the country. The program has had exceptional success at the national competition, bringing home a national champion last year.
