Healthiest State Initiative Walk was held on Wednesday, October 9th. The walk is designed for the whole state of Iowa to register and become part of growing the awareness of wellness and health in our state.
As the registered business, Friendship Haven partnered with volunteers around Fort Dodge as well as the men and women’s Iowa Central cross country team. The combined total of volunteers, employees and residents estimated to be around 150. The walk was nearly three quarters of a mile around the campus.
After we succeeded in the walk, residents were welcome to go through our mini pumpkin patch—given treat of pumpkin bars and sugar cookies and apple cider for hydration.
35 pumpkins and gourds were donated by the Apple Orchard and Hy-Vee, as well as from Earl May to make a combined total of 85 pumpkins!
“It couldn’t have been any better of a day with the weather and turnout we had, said Liz Crimmins, Friendship Haven Wellness Coordinator. The staff of Friendship Haven combined with the volunteers—put so many smiles and enjoyment in our residents. It was really a privilege to watch the appreciation and gratitude our residents shared with the help they received in making the walk successful.”
