Foundation Scholarship Offered for Technology and Engineering Students Reopens for Applications until September 23rd
Ft. Dodge, Iowa - Iowa Central Community College announced today the establishment of The Koch Fertilizer, LLC, Scholarship for Iowa Central students majoring in Process Technology and Electrical/Mechanical Technology. Koch has made a two-year commitment to the College to support the scholarship program, beginning in the fall of 2013. The company will contribute a maximum of $40,000 including up to four $2,500 first-year student scholarships and three $2,500 second-year student scholarships.
“We are excited about the opportunities that Koch is providing Iowa Central students who plan to earn their degrees and pursue careers in these areas of study,” said Laurie Hendricks, Vice President of Development. “In addition to the financial assistance, these scholarships will also provide students with an opportunity to advance their education while also gaining valuable knowledge about careers in these fields.”
“We’re proud to be able to fund these scholarships for qualified students at Iowa Central Community College” said Tim Rippe, Koch Nitrogen plant manager. “We’re looking forward to partnering with Iowa Central and strengthening that partnership in the future with this scholarship fund.”
Koch Nitrogen Company, LLC is a subsidiary of Koch Fertilizer and currently employs more than 70 people at its plant in Ft. Dodge.
“We are grateful for Koch Fertilizer’s generosity and for believing in our students at Iowa Central,” said Hendricks. “Thanks to their support, we will be able to help students achieve their educational goals and also prepare them for entering the competitive workforce.”
Eligible participants for these scholarships must be pursuing a degree in in the fields of Process Technology and Electrical/Mechanical Technology. The recipients must be enrolled full-time and have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or above. A renewal scholarship applicant will be required to maintain strong academic performance.
Consideration criteria will include academic aptitude and achievement. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation and a copy of their high school transcript. Applicants must also submit a short essay letter of no more than 250 words explaining why they are interested in a career in industrial technology.
