FORT DODGE – The students in the Introduction to Disability Services class took a field trip last week to study playgrounds. The students visited Fort Dodge’s popular Loomis Park on Wednesday, April 3, to gather information for their playground designs.
“The project’s focus was to construct playscapes that featured play areas for all persons,” said Larry McLuckie, Iowa Central’s Coordinator of Human Services. “The students’ research revealed unique equipment for enhancing children’s physical and sensory experiences in a park setting.”
The class was studying mobility impairments and was tasked with designing a playground with complete accessibility and inclusion for all persons.
