FORT DODGE - The Iowa Central Dance Team received top honors at the Iowa State Drill Team Association’s State Competition this month in Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena. This is the seventh consecutive year that the Tritons, led by second year coach Cassidy Vermeer, have participated in the competition. They competed in the Community College Hip Hop Division as well as the Community College Jazz Division. In their Hip Hop Division, Iowa Central competed against four teams resulting in a second place finish. In the Jazz Division competed against two other teams and took first place.
“The team spent countless hours perfecting every inch of their routines and their performances and I think our finishes definitely show that,” said Vermeer. “Competing at Wells Fargo is always an exhilarating experience for us. It allows the girls to grow and improve their skills as well as showcase their amazing talent to the rest of the state. “
