Modern Language Study is the study of another language and the culture of its people.  Iowa Central Community College believes that the opportunity to study another language must be offered.  Through this study the students will improve their ability to communicate, not only in the newly acquired language, but also in their own dialect.  The college further believes that Modern Language Education develops an understanding of other cultures through its international focus.  Modern Education provides students with a well-rounded, broad-based education allowing them to pursue life’s goals.

Modern Language Outcomes

1. The Modern Language Program will enable students to communicate, both orally and in writing.  The students will develop the following communication skills:

4. Reading with comprehension
5. Writing in correct grammatical structure
6. The Modern Language Program will enable students to understand and accept cultural diversity.
7. The Modern Language Program will enable students to develop a better knowledge of their own language and culture.
8. The Modern Language Program will provide students with the opportunity to explore and understand how the knowledge of a Foreign Language will help them in career planning.
