American Sign Language II

This course continues to explore the various systems of manual communications used with deaf and hard of hearing individuals and others with communication disabilities. This course builds on the foundations in Sign Language I for the acquisition of skills in American Sign Language. Building on the fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL) used by the deaf community, this course continues development of basic vocabulary, syntax, fingerspelling, and grammatical non-manual signs. Focuses on communicative competence. Develops gestural skills as a foundation for ASL enhancement. This course continues to explore the culture and knowledge of the deaf community. Prerequisite ASL-131 with a "C" grade or better.
